Inherited Risk for Autism Through Maternal and Paternal Lineage

Dr. John N. Constantino and collaborators published an article in Biological Psychiatry examining the “female protective effect” in autism, finding that female protective factors are not suggestive of a principal mechanism underlying the male sex bias in ASD.

Recently, Biological Psychiatry published a commentary in response to this article, highlighting the importance of registry-based research in psychiatric epidemiology.
